Mayflower Bocawina National Park

Intro to Mayflower Bocawina National Park Edit Section - Placencia Park : Mayflower Bocawina National Park

If you have a car, this is fairly easy to access from Placencia (minus the long, bumpy ride on the terrible roads): a hot, gorgeous, enormous jungle playground that you can hike through at your leisure. It is also the site of a few minor Mayan ruins, though most likely you won't see much beyond a few rocks on a hill. Much more impressive is the size of the palm trees and ferns and Tarzan vines, the banana trees heavy with strange, sweet, tiny fruits filled with slimy black seeds, and the Antelope Trail that leads you, at last, to an icy cold pool and a waterfall, as well as a hazy view of the surrounding jungle-covered hills. Romance abounds.
