Intro to Kauppatori
Kauppatori is
the
outdoor market of Helsinki. You can find fresh fish (sold right off the boats), an assortment of Scandinavian berries in season, and all kinds of exotic Finnish gifts to wow your friends with.
The Market Hall (Kauppahalli) acts as the market in the winter time. Since there aren’t that many cheap restaurants in Helsinki, for the budget traveller I would recommend buying your lunch here (amazing meat pies for €2 or a litre of strawberries). The market vendors also have the best coffee in Helsinki. To amaze your friends at home you can pick up a knife, hand carved from reindeer horns. Don't believe what they say about reindoor horn powder giving men potency in bed.
