As the Place du Capitole represents the very center of the city, you can't really help but visit it at first for the beauty of its open space, surrounding architecture, fun if overpriced cafes, and superb people-watching opportunities. It is at its best, however, on certain days of the week and year when an organic produce market, a clothing and African wares market, and a Christmas market unfold all of their huts, tents, and delectable goods - everything from a rich organic bread heavy with nuts and fruits to colorful swathes of African material to sheepskin booties and mulled wine.
