Redang Island (which locally known as Pulau Redang - island in Malay mean Pulau) is located about 40 kilometers off from the main town Kuala Terengganu. Redang Island is one of the most popular destination for local tourist as well as outside tourist. This is due that it is popular with its amazing beaches, as well as underwater marine life. One of the popular beach here is Pasir Panjang (or if you translate these Malay word in English, it mean Long Beach).

Redang Island actually has been designated as marine park as was protected under Fisheries Act of 1985. Popular activities here for sure scuba diving as well as snorkeling. There are so many unique and beautiful coral reefs as well as other marine life - such as black-tip sharks, hawksbill turtles and so on.

Getting to Redang Island

There are two ways you can reach this beautiful Redang Island. Either you reach the island by boat or through flight. If you choose to reach by boat, there is a take-off jetty at Merang which located about 30 kilometers north of Kuala Terengganu town. If you get here between March till October, you can have a ferry or boat at jetty from Kuala Terengganu jetty itself (also known as Shahbandar Jetty). Another option is by flight. You can have a flight from Kuala Lumpur directly to an airport on the island.
