The Zoo Garden from Bucharest was set up in 1955 by some "zoological corner" situated in the main parks of the capital and in Baneasa woods. Between 1955-1959, the animal wew progressively gathered in the Baneasa Zoological Corner which was openned in 1959, May 1st and had become, the Bucharest's Zoological Garden. The Zoological Garden has an area of 5.85ha and, in 1994, January 1st, in its collection, 835 animals from 3 vertebrate classes: 6 reptile forms with 24 reptiles, 49 bird forms with 591 brirds and 49 mamel forms with 219 mamels. From the 104 forms, 51 are from the exotical fauna and 53 from the local fauna.
