Things To See and Do:

Spend a Day in the Park

Intro to Spend a Day in the Park Edit Section - London Things To See and Do : Spend a Day in the Park

Pick one; there are more than enough to go around and all are equally charming reprieves from the busy city streets.  Central to central London is Hyde Park and the beautiful Kensington Gardens, where sunbathers, joggers, 178 species of birds, pond-dwelling eels, and the beloved bronze statue of Peter Pan all find solace.  Hampstead Heath’s massive green spread is the locals’ playground, where a sunny afternoon is well spent with its jogging and cycling paths, swimming ponds, bowling green, and putting range.  To seriously get out of tourist dodge, take the Northern line down south to Clapham Common, where the neighborhood’s charming green spread is laced with twee little shops, cafes, and some of the few restaurants in London with the gumption for gumbo and savoir faire (or gumption) for true French customer service.   If you’re traveling with little ones, orchestrate an introduction with the komodo dragons and pygmy hippopotamus at the London Zoo in Regent’s Park.
