Exercise

Intro to Exercise Edit Section - Miami Sports, Health, and Fitness : Exercise

If you are one of those people that enjoy exercise and feel it is a crucial part of a vacation, Miami is a good place to be. In the winter it is the ideal place for running and cycling. The bridges that connect Miami with its beaches are always full of exercisers. The Venetian Causeway is a very scenic route that has less vehicular traffic than the other bridges. You’ll run or bike over a series of small bridges and through nicely landscaped residential areas. The sunset or sunrise is an especially handsome sight. The Rickenbacker Causeway that leads out to Key Biscayne is also frequented by fitness enthusiasts. The bridge has an excruciating incline making it good for interval training. There is also a great bike route around the island making it a cyclist’s paradise. If your hotel doesn’t have a gym, a good place to try is Crunch Fitness on Washington and 13th Street where there are lots of unconventional classes such as Cardio Striptease or a Ride-in Movie spinning class. Yoga is very big on the beach, and there are many smaller studios that offer a variety of yoga classes. There is a chance that everything will feel like Bikram in the Miami heat, though. If you are more into sports, beach volley is the most convenient choice. There are nets all over the beaches, just bring your own ball. If you feel like a game of tennis, many of the resorts and beach clubs will offer classes. If you have your own rackets the public parks usually have good courts.
