Intro to South Beach
The most famous of all Miami beaches, South Beach is the only place where you can legally sunbathe topless. This attracts your usual crowd of exhibitionists, voyeurs and liberally minded Europeans, but perfectly normal people as well. The southern tip of South Beach is called South Pointe and is the only place here where surfing is common. Off 13th Street is the gay beach, properly marked by a rainbow flag but nevertheless filled with as many straight as gay people. Generally, the higher up you get on South Beach, the quieter it gets.
