Monuments and Historical Sites:

Jackson Square

Intro to Jackson Square Edit Section - New Orleans Monuments and Historical Sites : Jackson Square

Now Jackson Square itself isn't much to look at, as it consists of a small park with a fountain and a few statues. However, across the street is the St. Louis Cathedral which is one of New Orleans oldest pieces of architecture still standing. You can go inside as you like or enjoy the view from the street. On the other side of Jackson Square lies the Mississippi River with all the transport barges and the like. During the day, Jackson Square is home to artists, musicians, tarot readers, performers and many other street vendors. This is definitely one of the most lively areas of New Orleans.
