You'll find a truly eclectic blend of fun and culture in the city's historic Gaslamp Quarter, located in the heart of downtown San Diego. Our HI Metropolitan hostel boasts a prime location for enjoying this unique atmosphere. Youll find yourself right in the middle of 16 blocks of San Diegos finest restaurants, cafes, boutiques, galleries, bars, nightclubs, and movie theatres, with a handful of seasonal street festivals and other various attractions. You'll be minutes away from the airport, Greyhound and Amtrak stations, the San Diego Convention Center, and numerous forms of public transportation providing access to all of San Diego, including Balboa Park, Sea World, the World-Famous San Diego Zoo, and all of our fine beaches.
For our guests, we offer free breakfast in a newly renovated kitchen and dining room. Our amenities include a TV room (DVDs available to borrow at front desk), internet kiosks, laundry facilities, a beautiful green indoor courtyard and a volunteer-run information desk. Weekly activities include walking tours of Balboa Park and Downtown San Diego; Coronado Island bike tours; communal kitchen events; and outings to baseball games and symphony concerts, all led by a great team of San Diego savvy volunteers.
We pride ourselves on our customer service. Our knowledgeable team can provide excellent recommendations for your visit, and are happy to help find a way to reach your destination. Our front desk is open 24 hours a day to address your needs at any time. It's important to us that each guest feels at home in our hostel.
Be sure to ask about our discount partners (over 20 local and over 30 in Tijuana) and find the cheapest place to eat, or rent a bike for the day!
A few of our reservation policies:
Foreign travelers must show a valid foreign passport and United States citizens must show a valid state issued Identification Card or Driver's License upon check in. San Diego County residents are not accepted. U.S. passports, Military identification cards and Student identification cards are not accepted.
If a reservation is not cancelled with at least 24 hours notice, the credit card will be charged for the amount of the first night's stay.
Please note we have a maximum stay of 21 days per year. Any bookings made for longer than this cannot be accepted.
A $3 Non-Member Fee will be added per night for guests who are not Hostelling International members. Memberships are available at front desk upon check in.
