HI-Santa Cruz is a non-profit organization located in the restored 1870's Carmelita Cottages on Beach Hill. Comprised of five renovated Victorian cottages, HI-Santa Cruz has the ability to sleep up to 45 guests. Available for the individual, couple, family, and group, we host over 7,000 guests per year.
By providing travelers with affordable, clean, safe and shared accommodations, the Santa Cruz Hostel promotes personal growth, self-reliance, and cultural awareness. Our goal is to build global understanding through hostelling.
PLEASE READ the following POLICIES: Because the Santa Cruz Hostel is part of a City Park and registered Historical Buildings, the City of Santa Cruz enforces the following for all Hostel Guests: 1. Quiet Hours and Curfew begin each night at 11pm. Hostellers must be back into their assigned cottages by this time. 2. A day time lock out is enforced from 11am until 5pm. There is no access to the buildings. 3. Alcohol is not permitted.
Also note that reservations can be made for up to 3 nights only. After the 3rd night, guests must ask at the front desk for extensions. Reservations for more than 3 nights will NOT be accepted and will be cancelled. Deposits made to Hostelbookers.com will not be refunded.
By Car From All Highways: Take the Ocean Street Exit and follow Ocean St. until it ends. Turn right on San Lorenzo Blvd., then left on Riverside. Take an immediate right onto 3rd Street. Follow 3rd St. uphill, then turn left on Main Street. Hostel is 1/2 block down on right. Street parking available at meters on Front St. Hill only; $1.25 permits available for these streets can be purchased at registration.
By Foot from Metro Station (Amtrak, Greyhound) 10-15 minute walk. Turn down Pacific Ave towards the ocean. Cross Front Street and take black paved footpath up steep hill. At top of hill (3rd Street), turn left and walk 1/2 block to turn right on Main St. Hostel is 1/2 block down on right. |
