Marquette House New Orleans International Hostel

Hostel Info for Marquette House New Orleans...

'The Original New Orleans Hostel.' From $16.00 and up, jazz it up New Orleans style at the best hostel in the City. Marquette House is the ideal location for individuals & groups to explore one of the most fascinating cities in America. Separate facilities and special rates available for groups.
Located in the 'heart and soul' of the 'new' New Orleans, our area was high and dry during hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Unlike many areas of New Orleans that flooded, our part of the city is thriving. Experience the 'real' New Orleans with its cafes, 24 hour bars, coffee houses, and great music just outside our doors. We are only minutes away by bus from downtown and the lively French Quarter. We are the closest hostel to the Greyhound & Amtrak Stations, and the New Orleans Visitors Bureau. Most shops, cafes, coffee houses, bars, groceries, delis, banks and hotels have reopened in our area and are within walking distance of our hostel. Explore the nearby Garden District with its antebellum mansions & gardens, New Orleans' second oldest 'City of the Dead' (above ground tombs), and century old oak trees.

We are located only 1 block off the major Mardi Gras parade route. We are also a great location to attend the Jazz Fest, as a bus line just one block away goes past the Jazz Fest Fairgrounds. Be sure to book in advance for Halloween (Oct. 31, 2007), the New Year's holiday (Dec. 31-Jan. 1, 2008), Mardi Gras (Jan. 25-Feb. 5, 2008), and Jazz Fest (April 25-27 and May 2-4, 2008). Contact the hostel direct if no availability is listed.

Marquette House is located in a village like complex of New Orleans style buildings. We offer comfortable spacious separate male and female dormitory style accommodations with ensuite toilets, showers, and lavatory sinks. Dorms generally have 4, 8, or 14 beds. Our larger 14 bed male or female dorms are large comfortable multi-roomed dorms with ensuite baths. We also offer private dorms with ensuite baths for 1, 2, 3, 4 or more persons. Private dorms are also available for groups. Double rooms with private bath, queen size bed, refrigerator, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker are also available.

Experience the uniqueness of doing your laundry while you sip a beer or play pool at the nearby Igors 24 hour lounge and laundromat. Several banks, hotels, cafes, coffee houses, pizzerias, 24 hour bars, a drugstore, three neighborhood groceries & delis, a gas station, the New Orleans Visitors Center, the second oldest above ground cemetery, and several museums are within easy walking distance of the hostel. Several bus lines going to downtown, the French Quarter, the Jazz Fest Fairgrounds, and other parts of the City pass within 1 to 6 blocks of the hostel.

Check in is temporarily available only between the hours of 7am to 12noon and 5pm to 10pm daily, but once you check in you have 24 hour access to your dormitory or private room. Check outs earlier than 7am may be arranged at the front desk the evening before. Weekly and monthly dormitory and private room rates are also available. A $10 refundable cash key deposit is required upon arrival. An ATM is locate at a bank just one block away.
