European Fun

Introduction 2006-07-18 to 2006-08-08

Well its the 11th of July, and I only decided on taking this trip a week ago... hell, I just bought my last plane tickets last night... and now I am suddenly sick... kinda blows, but hopefully I will be well and ready to go by next Tuesday when abouts I leave for 3 weeks in Europe. Fly into London for a quick 48 hours of expensive British company, then to Amsterdam for an almost equally short and expensive weekend. A nice train ride through the countryside to Brussels, Belgium, and then to our real destination: Italy. Oh, did I mention, my lovely friend Jessie shall be my travel companion on this adventure.

Italy is a place I have never been, never even thought much about going actually. I guess I am not a big enough history buff to truly appreciate its fantastical history. But recently I have had a number of recommendations for it. I think it was Jessie's idea to go.. I was just rambling off a relatively short list of places I determined would be reasonable (financially) to fly to. She was very excited, I think, to see Italy again- after a short trip there when she was much younger... I once had a house-mate, Kristen, who had a tale for every day of the week about her adventures in Italy. Well I am sure it will be a great place... We are planning on beginning just a little south of Rome in the city of Naples, and then making our way north to Venice.

I am very excited, and stressed with work and life after such a last minute traveling decision, but I think this adventure will work out to be a very good experience ;-)

Well, its now the 16th, one more day of work and preparation, and then I leave at last. Do I have everything I might need? Camera, check, extra batteries, check, charged, check, clothing, ehh.. well, i have a prediction that it will all come together sometime around 2:26am on Tuesday morning. or was it pm that the flight leaves? maybe i should print out an itinerary, or a calendar, or my confirmation of bookings... so much could be done, yet so disorganized it all feels... a couple more weeks to meditate on this departure would have been nice, but there is no hope in changing what has already past... and no reason to either... these things have a way of working out...

But perhaps I should book accommodations for the weekends in Italy, in Rome especially! I would not like to show up without one, only to find that everything reasonably priced is filled up already...
