Rome for Real this Time
2006-07-28
Well, it is now the 31st and we leave Rome later today for the small town of Assisi. Being in a city such as Rome I should have plenty to say, but really I do not. All in all, Rome has been a bit of an unproductive disaster. We have been waking up too late, only to meet the very hot midday, and mostly closed shops. We have not been very organized to see the sights of Rome, other than a brief bus tour. We decided not to pay the ridiculous entry fee to see the inside of the Colosseum. And went to the Vatican on Sunday when it is close due to ughh.. religious reasons. So much for the Sistine Chapel... Well I will make it back here eventually.
We have been staying in the Termini Station area, which aside from some pretty decent ethnic foods, has little good Italian. Also, ironically, the best espresso we have had is at the train station. With our less than ideal experiences here, I am being to feel tired from travelling, and a little homesick... but one more week to go will be fine (and fun!)
