Recently got back from my
trip to Argentina. Had never been to South America and didn't speak any Spanish. I went with my husband after we debated about it. He lived there long ago and finally sold me on it due to the huge bargin of the dollar against the Argentine peso.
I am not sure where to begin. Overall it was great. The highlight was Iguazu Falls and Buenos Aires.
Buenos Aires is amazing with it's beautiful people and friendly customs. We went to see a Tango show. Actually we took a whole day of Tango Tour and took a tango lesson. I will never forget that. I was terrible and everyone was great. We got to tour most of the city that day and I leanred alot. Got the feel for it and idea of the neighborhoods. Then spent the next 3 days going to various places from the tour I liked the most. Like the market in San Telmo.
This was a great tour.
Buenos Aires Tango ToursOne of the most interesting cemeterys in the world is in Buenos Aires.
It's the Recoleta Cemetery. Evita is buried there along with a host of Argentina legends and presdents. We went for free but had no idea what we were looking at. They had free tours but when we showed up, no one was there. It's only on certain days. Anyway, after much searching, we found the least inexpensive tour and took that. Through Recoleta and the Recoleta Cemetery. It was entertining. Recoleta is filled with restaurants and shopping.
The Recoleta Cemetery tourSan Telmo had a out door arts and crafts fair going on. I bought Tango shoes for $150pesos. Back home, they sell them for 150 dollars.
Puerto Madero is a nice place to walk along the canal. And there is a nice ecological reserve to explore with exceptional views of the city.
Later we went to Iguazu Falls. 17 hour bus trip there and back. It was not so bad because it was overnight. The falls are amazing. Very romantic. Take the boat ride underneth them. Great fun.
It was an interesting trip. Romantic and adventurous all at the same time.
