Peevees' Big Adventure - Costa Rica - Wow! Lots of catching up...

Costa Rica - Wow! Lots of catching up to...

We are now awaiting our flight from San Jose, Costa Rica, to Lima, Peru. Free Wi-Fi (ahhhhhh...) so some moments to rush in an update. First I have to say: YEAH for the election results! I hope we get something right for a change with the sea change.

The places we went: rafting on the Pacuare River, Wildlife viewing in Tortuguerro (home of the Green Sea Turtle),  Arenal and it's famous hot springs, Monteverde Cloud Forest (and zipline), a touch of the Nicoya Peninsula, and finally the lovely Corcovado National Park. The last two are on the Pacific Coast. Tortuguerro was on the Caribbean Coast. Everything else was inland.

We made San Jose our base of operations, staying a total of 4 nights there in a highly recommended hotel "Le Bergerac". Very serene, and wonderful staff. They spoke to us in English and we attempted to reply in Spanish. Lisa and I are a bit lazy in that we speak English with each other almost all the time. We oughta look into that...

The overall impression I have of Costa Rica is that it is a beautiful, well-run (recall Guatemala!) country, where folks are friendly,  helpful and happy. They have gotten the tourism business down to a fine science, which I guess is a good thing.

Rather than bore you with lots of rambling prose, I'll spend more time uploading some photos so you get a sense of what we did.

Ran out of time! Look at the Photos we just uploaded! More later!!!

Lisa made an interesting observation this morning as we cleared the airport security, which was one little machine with two attendants. It took us about 30 seconds. I think it used to be that way in the US back in, say, 1975. She said "funny, how a country with no army seems to have so few problems with security". Very thought provoking.
