Exploring the Bay Area - Heavenly and Hellions

Heavenly and Hellions 2006-02-25

Even though I don't ski that often I get pretty enthusiastic about it. Within a half-hour I was bombing down the slopes, graceless, but confident.

The snow was great. Actually, Heavenly has so much equipment up there for snowmaking that it didn't really matter that it hadn't snowed for a while. And on Saturday it was genuinely warm. This kinda weirded out Joe, who was used to Utah and Vail, but I was right at home in T-shirt and jacket.

Heavenly also has incredible views. On the California side of the mountain you have an unimpeded view of Lake Tahoe and on the other you look down on the flat desert of Nevada.
