Exploring the Bay Area - No Business like Snow Business

No Business like Snow Business 2006-02-24

I went on my first skiing trip of the season and probably, given my finances, the last. But it was well worth it. We were heading to the south side of Lake Tahoe so we took 50 all the way. Destination: Heavenly. Michael's glaucoma treatment: ditto.

We stayed with another college acquiantance who's a snowboard instructor up there. He lives in this perfect ski bum pad and hangs out with all these itinerant snowsport instuctors. They're a fun group...lots of internationals too. All around Heavenly you've got kids from Brazil ushering you onto lifts and Argentinians selling you gatorade. Our hosts were saying that most people just work for a season and leave, but in the meantime they all just party it up together. A weekend of the ski bum lifestyle was perfect for me.
