Day 4 - travel to UK

Pretty uneventful stuff we travelled to Heathrow and checked through - very quick and easy and went straight to a meeting. The best bit was that HERTZ just had to upgrade us to a brand new Mercedes Benz 4WD. Awesome car. The navigation system has a very nice young ladies voice and very helpful - but as with the eternal debate of navigating between men and women - if you don't do what she says she then chooses to ignore you!!!
Any way we had a good meeting with the poms who were slightly taken aback when we decided to drive to Scotland - I think road travel culture betwen aussies and poms are slightly different.
That nght we stayed at Bristol and wndered around - we went to a bar that is claimed to be the pub the Robert Louis Stevenson based the opening chapter of Treasure Island on - and I think it might be a credible claim - very nice pub so old that none of the walls are straight - in a tudor blackand white style - v. nice.
Anyway we went for a wander to a restaurant recommended to us and Bob announced quite emphatically that it had no atmosphere. So in good faith we continued on until a pub was spotted - Bob wanted an english pub with a fire and leather seats - and this one fitted the bill. Unfortunately besides a couple of locals of dubious social standing there was not much else - Nick and I tolerated this for one beer and virtually frogmarched Bob out to the restauraunt we spotted before.
Well it was one of the most memorable meals I have ever had - It was a fish restaraunt which imports all its fish and seafoood from it's own company in Scotland- the food was to die for - Salmon was the speciality and we even prized put a few of the recipes from the chef. The staff were awesome - and our waitress was a spitting image of a good friend of ours at home (except this girl was a bit younger) Well satisfied we strolled back to the hotel for a night's well earned sleep.
We are doing our best to account for the jet-lag but I am still waking up bright and early at a regular 4am timeslot
