Well it has been a busy couple of busy days!I am in a conference at the Istanbul Military Museum - ppretty busy and I have not been able to get to the internet. I have to say Istanbul s great! The food is awesome, the history is maginficent and cheap. The place is steeped in history and the people are proud and friendly. There is variety everywhere you look and something a little different at every point. I went and saw the oldest military band today - it was excellent - it did look like 20 Merv Hughes's had walked in - pretty cool though. We had an fficial function last night and didn't get out and the night before we watched Australia get cruelly robbed by the referee in the World cuup..Oh well. We had an awesome dinner tonight on a cruise boat up and down the Bospherous - it is just like Sydney harbour only 10 times the size - figures since there are 15 million people in Istanbul.
The Blue mosque is fantastic- even the guys insisting on selling you a carpet or rug are polite (although insistent)
It's late and will ppost more when I can
