On the Bus
2006-10-06
It wasn't so cold after all last night -- a brisk, 3 km walk can do wonders in the quest to stay warm. I probably was doing something I shouldn't have -- wander around deserted industrial areas and housing blocks after dark in a city who streets and language I don't know -- but I never felt threatened one bit. It was rather peaceful walking down those streets, my gloved hands jammed in my pockets and my breath visibly piercing the air in front of me.
I did end up watching the Icelandic movie last night, a sad portrait of a man's descent into schizophrenia and eventual suicide. Okay, I really should start paying attention to what's passing by the window. How fast one leaves the city...

The only trees that are more than 4 feet high are the pines planted by kids in the juvenile detention center.
