So much for my Thailand journal. The days and experiences have been flying by and so little is recorded here. This is one of those times when that simply means I have been living too much...
I SO wish we were staying on this island longer. It is its whole own world, a whole different trip. We are in our beach bungalos. We napped in hammocks on the porch this afternoon, rocking gently to the waves. White sand, perfet blue water. And everywhere, coconut trees! Rain came this morning, and grey clouds all day, and this place made sense in a whole new way in the rain.
Our bathroom has no ceiling! We did our almost nightly ritual now of smashing a cockroach or two. We went to Hat Rin tonight, an insane taxi ride in the back of a truck, up and down hills, battling with the drivers over baht. We got a Thai massage and ate at an Indian restaurant and saw Hat Rin - the place of the full moon parties.
We drink fruit shakes every day and so much cheap Thai food! I LOVE it!!! I am not sick of Thai food yet. I want only to sit and BE here in this perfect bungalo, practise the art of doing nothing, this is such a good place for it!
We bought candles today and we have them on... makes it cozy. My homing instincts are so strong. I want to sweep the porch and decorate the walls. I want myself a home!
Random thing today - one of the massage women was so admiring my new skirt that as we left I took it off and gave it to her (I had pants on underneath). I've never done that before - randomly given something of value to a stranger... but I am glad I did. The longing in her eyes was amazing. P.S. All the massage women were so admiring of Abe's hair and his beautiful curls which form so much in this humid weather... oh I love it too! : )
I do not want to leave this place. It is too soon. I am just getting into being vacated... though I do look forward to the hot shower...!
