Home to faeries, Guinness, and James Joyce alike, Ireland is an ancient land of spectacular scenery and Celtic History. My first taste of Ireland was flying with Aer Lingus and hearing both English and Irish Gaelic over the intercom (Ireland’s two official languages are English and Gaelic); though as with most intercoms both tongues were equally incomprehensible. As our plane hovered over Shannon, the ground literally shone florescent green which after thirty plus hours awake traveling would seem a legitimate hallucination, but is in fact the natural color of the landscape. And with a near constant rainfall, it isn’t hard to fathom why. About four out of seven of the days we stayed saw but a wink of sunlight between showers which was considered sunny summer weather by Irish standards. Our group explored both the rural country and two of the large cities; During our time in Ireland we traveled through Kilrush, Limerick, the Cliffs of Moher, Galway, the Aran Islands, and Dublin.
