my first trip out of the country - So I have my passport and my...

So I have my passport and my attractions... 2007-01-16

Hey,
So after 26 hrs of plane flights I arrived in Bangcock..... They treat
you better on international flights..... I see that as a bit of
irony... Anyways the flights were suprisingly easy to deal with
especially the one from tokyo to thailand. It was a sleep deprived
dream.. all these exceptionally cute japanese 20-25 year olds waited
on me hand and foot.... I am not a big fan of super attentive customer
service but jesus it was fucking hilarious..... (i think the constant
laughter part was actually due to sleep deprevation more than anything
else)...... I really like japanese culture from the small amount i saw
of it in the airport............................. or maybe i just like
the exceptionally cute girls everywhere.... whatever...............
Airports in asia are really peaceful... no smooth jazz!! no irritation
security messages!!! and holy crap its not a total crime to bring
liquid on the plane!!! you can even bring outside alcohol... Its
amazing that a relativly stressed overworked people can calm their
citizens down enough so ther dont attempt to blow up their planes with
breast milk, bottled water and green tea........ if the japanese can
do it we can too!!! just believe you guys...

Being in another country is a fucking trip........ I have learned more
about american pop culture since i have been here (1 day) than i have
in the last 4 years in santa cruz.... i get to watch justin timberlake
videos while riding mass transit in a country that doesnt speak the
language that the "music" is primarily written in...... what a dream
come true (cause everyone knows justin timberlake is the hottest
female on the planet)...

Some higlights of the day:

1) and army requriter tried to recruit me and abe...
2) i got a thai massage which was amazing!!! there will be more of those to come
3) eveything you eat here is amazing.... i had 4 meals and a snack and
whether from street vendor or resturant it was all amazing...
4) I have taken a hiadus from my vegitarianism for health reasons... i
dont like it a whole lot but i feel like i'd have a hard time
otherwise...
5) i was in several motor vehicles that pulled into oncomming traffic
several times... People are fucking insane drivers here (tara i am
sorry i ever compared santa fe to china).... people driving
motorcycles on the sidewalk... cutting across 4-5 lanes at a time only
to cut immeditaly back over to the lane they were originally in.....
its like playing frogger at high speeds!! it makes san franciosco seem
like santa cruz...
you know whats weird about that though... i trust the traffic (and
drivers) here more than i trust most of the drivers in america who
drive under much less stressful conditions.... weird huh....
6) this city smells really bad...... its really dirty........ but
charming in a " i feel like i am going to die from 95 degree humid
polution" sort of way..... way better than LA sadly enough.....
7) most of the city is run down except the temples which are in
exquisit condition
8) i am a total creature of comfort much more than i realized.. i am
fairly out of my element
9) the taxi drivers (and everyone else) tries to rip you off
constantly... we have been cheated by 2 cab drivers taken to a fake
TAT (tourist authority of thailand) and aparently the prices that are
written in thai numbers are not the prices that are written in arabic
numerals....... i am already way tired of that shit.... so much for
white privilage.....
10) my desire to not communicate with anyone has subsided to some
affect as it seems my only way to not feel overwhelmed...
11) a cab driver played smooth jazz for us...... fucking lame.......

I'll write more when i have experienced some more..
