my first trip out of the country - koh phangan.........


koh phangan......... 2007-01-02
 
ok so where did i leave off....... oh thats right the tropical island
that i am chillin on.......

my time on this island has been great thus far..... i am very sad that
this is comming to an end.... i only have 2 nights left here. this
place is a fucking paradise. it is not too hot, not too expensive
(although by far the most expensive place i have been in thailand) and
there is (a small amount of) good music here.....

we started the first full day on the island by sleeping in..... then
we ate some really good food..... probably had a shake or two.... then
we went snorkling... this was totally fun... the first place i went i
was totally terrified because it was deep..... i never really realized
that this fear existed (possibly because i have never went snorkling
before).. but the second place we went was pretty kool.... it was not
terribly clear but it was worth it anyways...

we have been riding vespas around like they were fucking dirt bikes
(syd you'll appreciate this). we have been climbing and decending
20-30 % grade hills of dirt and rock on shitty little vespa bikes...
these hills are totally dirt bike worthy and yet we seem to be
managing...... the taxis are totally absurd here so bikes are the way
to go... wish us luck.. it makes it an adventure anywhere we go..

so anyways we then proceeded to eat some more..... and have more
shakes.. then we lounged about for a bit.... then we ate some
more..... then we got thai massages and ended up with the girls that
gave us the massages at some crappy bar listening to bad rolling
stones covers....... then we went home, walked on the beach and went
to bed.....

then we slept in again.... then ate some more food and had some more
shakes..... we then proceeded to sleep some more and then awoke to a
light rain.... after we realized it was raining we decided it was
appropriate timing to get more shakes and play some chess........ i
really enjoy chess although i suck at it pretty bad... then we went
back and lounged some more (island life is fucking intense)........ we
walked and got bikes again and then proceeded to go on some
rediculously intense grades to get to our present location..........

this place is so incredibly white, although charming in an interesting
way... i suppose most of it is due to the full moon parties.. we just
ate some totally awesome indian food and we will expend that energy
dancing on the beach to (hopefully) good music.... so off to the full
moon party we go.......
