why is alcohol legal/i wish i knew...
2007-02-02
ok so full moon party......
MUSIC:
the music ranged from bad mainstream hip hop to trance to eighties
music.... a few highlights (i complain about music way to much , and
could spend hours doing so with the music last night, so i will only
highlight good things):
some really funky progressive house.... very tribal, very precussive
consistantly good... this was probably my favorite tent
there were two doods programming live psytrance... this was kool....
it was very repedative and quite noisy.... the "melody" was totally
abrasive a-rythmic noise... this was exciting especially since they
were doing it live.....
there was occasionally some good trance (i have a hard time with
melodic trance), though inconsistant from track to track..........
ATMOSPHERE:
i have been making a huge attempt in the recent few months to overcome
my bias towards alcohol, i will occasionally drink a beer and have
been attempting not to lecture people about its negative
effects........ i feel like it is unfair and judgemental of me to box
all alcohol usage into a negative group...... as with all things there
is always personal choice involved and yet..........
it isnt so much the usage of alcohol that bothers me so much as the
unconscious way people act when under the influence of it...... by
midnight you could not dance on the beach without kicking beer
bottles....... it is really hard for me to watch people drop their
"bucket" (wisky and amphetiname filled redbull, kinda like a
speedball) on this gorgeous beach and leave it sitting next to the
ocean where within a couple of hours (long before cleanup crews get
there) the ocean will then "clean it up"......... this was very hard
to watch the last year i went to burning man as well.. it invokes a
reaction of saddness and of anger. when i see this i very much want to
cry/break my personal vow of pacifism and just be like "HEY FUCKER....
IF YOU LEAVE YOUR SHIT ALL OVER THE BEACH IT WONT BE A BEAUTIFUL PLACE
ANYMORE!! SO PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF YOU LAZY, DRUNK, ABERCROMBE
WEARING FUCKHEAD!!!!". then if they get pissed off put them in some
painful akido hold and make them do it, embarassing them in the
process........
unfortunately i am aware of the fact that i cannot make anyone see
anything...... i also have remembered recently that i really
ultimately cannot get mad at people for being unconscious.... i also
know that violence doesnt ultimately fix anything......... despite
this it still makes me angry
SYNOPSIS:
despite all the shit that i have talked about it, i actually was not
disapointed....... in fact it was more or less exactly what i was
expecting..... this does not make it any easier....... but i wasnt
disapointed....... over all i felt like it was totally overrated
one REALLY kool thing that happened was we saw a king cobra eating a
large lizard on the beach in front of our bungalow....... this scared
the crap out of me as i assumed it was seaweed and got to close and it
started slithering... thank god it was eating something or i probably
would have gotten bitten, i was like 2 feet away.......... me and abe
went back to check it out because it was eating something and snakes
are fairly immobile/far less dangerous while eating.... we are more or
less just killing time till our fairy leaves tomorrow morning and we
fly back to bangkok................
so this will probably be the last travel journal as the rest of the
time is mostly traveling........ hopefully you enjoyed reading
them...... i enjoyed writing them... i'll see some of you soon and
some of you in a while but until then i love you all.... you are all
rad people!!! until the next adventure this is kent brochman siging
out...
