Gyeongbokgung
Gyeongbokgung is probably the most famous palace in Seoul. It was the main palace during the Joseon dynasty, and is now a major attraction. It is really beautiful, and the traditional structures contrast sharply with the ultra modern city that surrounds it! Seeing Gyeongbok Palace is definitely worth dealing with the hordes of other tourists!
This was the first tourist attraction I visited while in Seoul (I even took the English tour)! My boss organized this trip for all the English teachers. We followed it with a stop at Insadong. There are tons of galleries and shops selling art, antiques, and crafts along one main street and several side alleys. On the weekend, the main street is blocked to cars, which makes the experience much more pleasant!
