Dining Info for Vivat Bacchus

Vivat Bacchus is a South African owned wine restaurant at 47 Farringdon Street and is the sister restaurant of Browns of Rivonia, in Johannesburg.
It serves Modern European food with influences from the Pacific Rim and of course, South Africa. Diners are surrounded by wine cellars and are invited into the cellars to choose their wine. The walk-in cheese room has 50–60 cheeses to choose from.
The world-class wine list is dominated by South African wine (some 400 labels) with France, Italy, Spain and the new world very well represented.
November 2005 saw the opening of Vivat Bacchus Wine Bar, a spectacular steel, wood and glass structure with its own wine cellars and deli counter. The lighter food served in this area is Mediterranean in style. It boasts its own walk-in cheese room and the wine list features 20 wines by the glass.
Wine Club meetings are held on Monday nights from 7:00 – 8:30. An expert lectures on an area or winery and leads a tasting of 6 -10 wines
