This is Alice Waters' famous Berkeley restaurant, often named as the birthplace of California cuisine. The idea is simple: make delicious food with what's local and what's fresh. And around Berkeley this yields amazing results. There's a fixed menu, priced depending on day of the week. Mondays are $50 and the price goes up through the week with Saturday at $85. The cafe upstairs is open for lunch. Dinner by reservation only.
