Introduction to Canberra Edit Section - Canberra Travel Guide - Hotels & Restaurants

Canberra is 'the worst thing ever.'  According to Minister of International Affairs and Language Acquisition, Caitlin Dinley Keating of the Victorian Government, itself situated in the much nicer, much mellower Melbourne-town.  "Mr. Quayle, you're no John Kennedy," and Canberra certainly isn't any Sydney, or Melbourne, it isn't Perth, not even Hobart.  In fact, a decent map of Tazzy doesn't even include a circled star for this technicality compromise capital, a bureaucratic hiccup located in central woop woop.  Many potential Australian diplomats refuse the post to serve as ambassadors to their great nation because of the horrors involved in the two year home-stint in Canberra.  "Can't we just go straight to Iraq, or Congo or something nicer" is the common complaint, itself striking given the diplomatic characters of this talented core.  Canberra is home to over 300,000 souls, a sad lot that suffers from chronic bouts of low self esteem, made no better by the kryptonite character of the nation's president and 'man of steel' John Howard.  If for some reason you lose a bet and do in fact have to visit, check out the Telstra tower, a great introduction into the proud history of Australian telecommunications.  Parliament is also housed in an interesting edifice.
