Blue Mountains
If you have some time, take a few days to venture out into the Blue Mountains, 50-120km west of Sydney. Hikes, caves, eco tours, small townships, and absolutely gorgeous (but not blue) rock formations abound. It’s a little touristy, but with reason: the park has been on the World Heritage list of protected sites since November 2000.
 
Bondi Beach
Bondi Beach, with ferry- and bus-connections from Circular Quay, makes for a fantastic daytrip/surfin’ safari. Filled to the brink with sun-tanned (and sunburned) bodies but catering also to the wayward surfer, the glitzy Bondi is considered a "must-see" in Sydney. To gorge yourself on even more sand n' surf, do the famous Bondi to Coogee walk, a lazy, 5 kilometer jaunt on boardwalks, trails,...
