| Placencia is supported almost entirely by tourism, so finding a place to stay here really couldn't be simpler. There is everything from rooms in small houses to your own private cabana on the beach to a ludicrously fancy and pricey room in a giant, gorgeous hotel. There are even apartments for rent in larger buildings just going up as of spring 2006.

| Not that most of us could afford it, but the Turtle Inn, pet project of Francis Ford Coppola, is romance and luxury at its very, very finest. If you can't afford one of the palacial seaside villas, splurge on dinner there: the restaurant is exquisite, with excellent service, delicious meals, and a thatched-roof candelit decor to swoon for. |
| Vast and beautiful, if a bit posh, complete with pool and luxurious landscaping of the grounds. Excellent service, too; ask for a romantic picnic on the beach, and all will be supplied. |
| Probably the best way to stay in Placencia. Brightly painted one-room cabanas right on the beach, complete with shady porch, hammock, two queen-size beds, bathroom, and your choice between a mini fridge and a coffee pot or a full kitchen with large fridge, sink, oven, silverware, and dishes. |
