Food can be delicious as well as sort of mediocre here. If you're staying for a long time, it might be best to do your own grocery shopping and cooking if possible. There are, however, a bunch of tiny restaurants where the service is hit or miss, but the food is pretty good, with a mixture of Belizean, Central American, Mexican, and Spanish cuisines. You'll find things like fajitas and burritos in restaurants pretty often, as well as the Belizean staples of rice and beans and "stew" anything: stew beef, stew beans, stew pork, and, of course, plenty of fish. There are also a few interesting restaurants serving international cuisine, including Italian, French, American and Australian.

It's one of the very few establishments that stays open late at all; if you'd like to go out for a drink at night, this is one of the spots. |
| Frothy rum drinks, burritos, fish, stew beans and meat. Pretty good food, but pretty poor service. Depending on how hungry you are, the slow service can be worth it, however, since it's right on the beach with cute thatched-roof picnic tables and seabreezes galore. |
| Located right near the dock, this little place is generally crowded, and quite good. Try the shrimp fajitas or the fruit shakes. Stew pork with rice and beans generally is mostly rice, but you'll find that that's to be expected. Service is relatively fast and friendly. |
| Fine Italian ice cream in a dozen flavors. A bit pricey, but delicious, and very much needed in such cloying heat. Try the fruit flavors especially, such as papaya, grapefruit, and kiwi. Also: it's air conditioned in there. Although it's a takeout ice cream place, you'll want to take your time! |
