Introduction to Sindu
Rainy season or not, a 4x4 or a lot of patience will get you through the rice fields to stare at this natural wonder. Lord knows how these rocks got here and what formed them into the pinnacles they are, but they sure are pretty (there is also a guide association to tell you about their history, if you really are interested). An afternoon hike is an appropriate way to soak in all the splendor of the rock formations, rising into the sky like pedestals of statues long since eroded by the winds. To the locals, the place is sacred. Ancient and even relatively recent peoples inhabited these rocks to protect themselves from outside invaders, their traces are still found laying off the paths in the form of broken pottery (do not pick anything up, please). In town, you can find little more than a donkey and a small boy selling beans, but the place is friendly enough for a night or two.
