Introduction to Toronto Edit Section - Toronto Travel Guide - Hotels & Restaurants

Toronto is Canada's biggest city and is located on Lake Ontario, across the water from New York State. It is also one of the world's most culturally and ethnically diverse spots, and remains Canada's economic, cultural, and artistic hub, boasting some very prestigious universities, dozens of elaborate art museums and many more galleries and art events, highbrow theater (like London and San Francisco,Toronto is another hotspot for Broadway shows off-Broadway), legendary comedy clubs, and such a mix of ethnic foods that twice a year everyone turns out for citywide food festivals. Though the winters are bitter cold, this makes Toronto a haven for hockey fans, and, oddly enough, Toronto weather is in general much more mild than the weather in other parts of Canada, due to its proximity to a large body of water and also its southern-Canada location.
