Monaco has a lot going for it, at the very least in terms of novelty: it is, first of all, the most densely populated country in the world, as it's nestled in between France and Italy  along the French Riviera in an area of less than 500 acres with a population of almost 33,000. It is the second-smallest independent country (as it's so tiny, it's also known as one of the few European "microstates") and has more millionaires per capita than anywhere else on the planet. Hence, it's an interesting place to visit, particularly if you like to gamble and you're starting with a good chunk of change. It's also, naturally, very beautiful, as the glistening Mediterranean, rocky cliffs, and sunny, clement weather marry well with the crisp, seashell-pink cleanliness of the high-rises and cobble-paved streets. As Monaco is surrounded mostly by France and almost half of its population are French nationals, the official language is French, but locals also speak Italian, English, and two languages more indigenous to the region: Monegasque and Occitan.
