Toulouse has a vibrant nightlife, so head just about anywhere in the city center for classy wine bars, tiny dive bars, bars full of foreign exchange students drinking "pastis" (a licorice-flavored liquor beloved in the region), or smoky clubs where people dance their hearts out. Art, theater, and cinema is also huge in Toulouse. For foreign or rarely seen films (or for British or American films in English, with French subtitles, rather than dubbed in French), go to L'Utopia, a really impressive little cinema that publishes monthly journals featuring the schedule of upcoming films as well as articles and reviews about them. Fetes and festivals abound -- you might even find yourself in the middle of a raging street party one day, not knowing how or why -- and many art galleries, historical buildings, and museums are there for your perusal.
