| The Neustadt is the place to look for cheaper, backpacker-oriented accommodations. They tend to be filled with young globetrotting folks in their 20s and 30s and located within walking distance from the train station and the area's restaurants and nightlife. Backpackers have several good choices, including the Mondpalast, a trendy, yet friendly, carefully kept hostel, and the excellent and small Lollis Homestay Hostel.
There are more expensive hotels in other parts of the city, including the Altstadt. There's also an HI hostel, but it is out of the way and has a pretty clinical, institutional atmosphere.
