Greek Islands Edit Section - Greece Greek Islands

The beautiful Greek Islands have everything a traveler could possibly want, gorgeous beaches and nature, countless historic sites and nightlife like few other places on earth, which has made it the prime summer playground for European youngsters. The Greek kitchen offers many lovely specialties and if you are willing to try new things you will surely have many unforgettable culinary experiences. It is easy to just get lazy and lay on the beach all day long, but try and take a trip into the center of the islands, this is where you will discover true Greek life in rural villages and towns. Greeks are very friendly and will often welcome you into their homes and perhaps offer you a glass of ouzo.

The  contrast between different islands, even groups of Greek islands is enormous. Some volcanic and in late summer, brutally dry, others lush and green.
If one island is all you can manage - Crete has the greatest variety and contrasts embodied in the largest of all the Greek islands.

Mykonos Island, Greece
Mykonos Island is a wonderful place in Greece.

Santorini Island, Greece
Santoroni Island is in Greece.

Santorini, Greece
Santorini is one of the prettiest places on the planet: Inspirational-office-poster pretty. Only better, because once you step off the Flying Dolphin express boat, you aren't forced to read platitudes written in copy under boldfaced words like "Courage" or "Fortitude." No, Santorini doesn't force you to do anything except marvel in the location. The city clings like coral, a whitewashed...

Athens, Greece
Athens is a city of overwhelming size, which nonetheless has a smallish downtown area.

Lefkada’s incredible blue water and golden beaches make the island an ideal destination for...

Hydra, Greece
Hydra, pronounced like 'he-draw,' (a sort of 'Dick and Jane' description of art class) is a tranquil little isle near the peloponesas. Hydra is a tiny island, with a population of only 2000 people, located 1.5 hours from Piraeus port by Flying...

Naxos, Greece

Corfu, Greece
Unfortunately, most people's idea of this beautiful Greek isle is convoluted by the rotten, shameless-blush of the island's biggest backpacker destination. Homer would tell us that the Pink Palace is where "Rosy fingered dawn" came to die. Corfu is so much more than the home of the Pink Palace, but it often seems hard to remind people of that obvious truth. The palace begins casting its net...

Ios, Greece
Ios is an anthill of excess. Remember in Pinocchio how there was one island where all the bad boys and girls went to be naughty? A place of anti-Disney, bacchanalian extremes, a "what happens in Pleasure Island stays in Pleasure Island" mantra? Well, you too can partake in such a terrestrial morality play, and your stage is set in Ios, Greece. The whitewashed city walls pile on top of each...
