Acapulco is a great old beach town.  In some places you might feel like you've stepped back in time to Elizabeth Taylor's, Elivs's, and J.F.K.'s Acapulco.  That's the way you might feel, say, watching the famous divers at La Quebrada as they plunge head-first from ragged cliffs into shallow shallow moonlit waters, with spectators watching from the balcony of the Mirador Hotel.  In other places, say, fighting for a place to set your towel down on the beach if you make the mistake of going to Acapulco on a three-day weekend when everyone in Mexico City decided to head their too, you might feel that you can't escape the crowds, tall hotels, and modern shopping centers.  But in Acapulco you are always guaranteed a selection of great beaches (some of them are even guaranteed to be calm), great international and Mexican food restaurants, and nightclubs.
