Introduction to Bacalar
This is a pretty small, low-key town south of Cancun. It attracts a pretty big community of expats just livin' the dream, setting up near the lake, enjoying the weather, and taking beach trips. Major local activities include: sitting by the lagoon with a cold beer, visiting the
local regional
museum in an old Spanish fort, and gobbling up the
cochinita pibil
tacos at the municipal president's taco stand (the call him "Chepe", so ask around to find him). Take a look at the pictures of the lake -- and the tacos! It is a beautiful little town and a great place to relax.
