| As San Miguel is such a tourist town (on a recent visit, an expat living in town told me that the summer months attract mostly Texans and the winter attracts Canadians) there are a wide variety of places to stay. The youth hostel in San Miguel is in a growing area a bit far from downtown. As this area grows, it may be in the middle of some kind of action, but presently it does not seem to be the best deal going. There are quite a few simple hotels (no TV, no telephone) that charge around $30-$60 a night and are close enough to walk to downtown shops, galleries, and restaurants. This is the major sport in San Miguel, so it's well-worth the extra cash to be close to all of the attractions. Of course, if you are willing to really dig into your pockets, there are some rather fancy hotels that will provide the ultimate comfort in the city. Some, like beautiful Casa de Sierra Nevada happily charge around $300-$400 a night. |

| It's pretty widely agreed that this exclusive hotel is the best that San Miguel has to offer. On a recent visit to the hotel's elegant restaurant, I was able to witness first hand just what wonderful service they offer. Not to mention the wonderfully prepared food. |
| I stayed at this hotel recently. It's cheap and clean, but pretty bare. There are no room TVs or phones, but the beds are cozy and it's within walking distance from the downtown area. The down side: when it rains, it's loud. The rain spouts pour water down on to patios that eco the crashing sound.
