Niger Travel Guide

If your knowledge of Niger is only that Saddam supposedly sought enriched uranium there, you are not alone. Most people have never thought to visit Niger. But, most people are missing out on one of the most difficult places in the world to reach. Given that Niger constantly remains at the bottom of the U.N. Development Index, there is very little in Niger aside from sand and poverty. But, that should not take away from one's desire to visit Niger.

Located virtually in the center of the Sahara desert, Niger is a former French colony. If you are not extremely adventurous don't even consider visiting Niger. It's hard enough getting around with French, let alone English, as much of Niger functions on native languages. Niamey is no destination wedding spot but it has a few sights to offer. A few hours outside Niamey, you can visit and view the wild giraffes of Niger. Other than, that there is a plethora of culture especially in and around Agadez.
