Oceania is the continental region between Asia and the Americas, consisting of Australia, New Zealand and a large collection of small island nations. Some of the small island nations are independent republics but many still have political associations with colonial powers (like the Northern Mariana Islands, which are involved in the current American political scandal surrounding shady lobbyist Jack Abramoff).
