An archipelago in South East Asia, the Philippines is composed of 7,107 islands, with a land mass of 300,000 square kilometers.  There are three main island groups in the Philippines: Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.  Manila, the capital of the Philippines is located in Luzon, which is the financial, commercial, and city center of the Philippines.

But what makes the Philippines so different from other South East Asian countries?  It is the diverse cultural influences. This includes Chinese, Spanish, Malay and Indian.  In 1935, the Philippine government was under American control, adopting the American government, education, and legal structure.  English is now a predominant language in the Philippines.  Moreover, Filipinos are Chinese-Spanish mixed, who write and speak English, Tagalog, Chinese, and other Filipino dialects.  As interesting as the people are,  the beautiful beaches, mountains, food, and shopping provide a great mix for a trip to the Philippines.
