What would Brigham Young University's football team be without Samoa? Answer: Uncle Rico and the gang with a Napoleonic complex and a generous side of earnest ineptitude.  Can you imagine Kip trying to make some sweet touch backs over his brother's indignant paroxysms.   "Gosh, stop, dangit, flipping don't tackle so fracking hard!"  Fortunately for God's team, the Samoans have been largely amenable to the prophetic wisdom of Mr. Joseph Smith.  Hence it is with an enormous island-bred squad of supermen Samoan goliaths that BYU continues its college football successes.  Fortunately for island lovers everywhere, Samoa isn't a lot like Utah.  A pristine Pacific island nation, a home to a proud Polynesian tribe of Samoan nationals, Samoa is an interesting conglomeration of Polynesian and Indo European cultures.  Despite its varied European and commonwealth contacts, Samoa remains a largely indigenous stronghold, an island paradise, and a beautiful and entertaining amalgamation.

Located halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii in the tropical region of Oceania, Samoa is composed of a handful of sparsely populated islands, and two main ones: Savolii and Upolu.  With a headcount of 180,000 people, Samoa joins Reno in population density, possibly putting Samoa in the running for biggest little Polynesian island in the world.  The small population doesn't do justice to the huge, striking volcanic landscapes. Bring your camera and hike these jagged jungle peaks rising from the sea level basin to the nation's 1857m apex at Mauga Silisili, a peak towering over the island of Savolii.
