Introduction to Andalucia
If Spain's autonomous regions were given nicknames based on recent films, the senorita that is Andalucia might be called "Little Miss Sunshine." Maybe its the literal downpour of sunlight, solar showers that warm the golden rolling plains, hillsides and craggy peaks of Spain's most populous region. Baked by a blessedly benign climate, Andalucia bathes in over 3000 hours of sunshine a year, it is that brightly lit, warming ambiance which creates Andalucia's charming character and flamencan flair. Miles of warm waters, Mediterranean coasts, and Atlantic beaches offer excellent surfing. Not far inland the Sierra Nevada's offer a snowy skiing scene painted in pogonip. Ponder your inner Hemingway at a bullfight, or catch a wave in Cadiz, sample Sherry in Jerez, man the clapping castanets in a Sevillan flamenco club, marvel in Cordoba's mezquita mosque, and finally mellow out in Malaga's cruisy coast. Spain is a land of amazing availability and Andalucia is a quintessentially Spanish portal into our Iberian imagination. Forget reality, dream a little, come to the land that inspired Carmen and Don Juan~ Andalucia~
