Introduction to Menorca
If Mallorca is the loud older brother and fraternity president, and Ibiza is the wild child younger sister with something to prove, than Menorca is the more balanced, tempered middle child. Menorca still knows how to have a good time, still has those flashy good looks that get his siblings into so much trouble; but Menorca doesn't need to wake up on his own beach every morning with a different passport stamp on his forhead. Menorca shares the natural beauty, the sunshine and the sand, but isnt so agressively loud, so haughtily hedonistic. Menorca is where graduate students go for a good time, leaving Ibiza and and Mallorca for the late teens early 20s crowd. Just as Mallorca means big, and Ibiza means...er, Ibiza, well so too does Menorca mean minor. The island is not a power chord but a minor key, a mellow hum that refreshes and replenishes more than taxes and drains like the other more crowded Balearic islands. Sometimes called the jewel of the Balearic's, this isle's slower pace does not mean that it lacks for attractions. Golden sands, warm waters, a solid nightlife and a prehistoric legacy, monolithic remnants and a collection of hand carved caverns make this sparkling little island a nice break from the buzz of the overtly boisterous Balearics.
