Introduction to Sweden Edit Section - Sweden Travel Guide - Hotels & Restaurants

Sweden is a Scandinavian country between Norway and Finland. It's exceptionally friendly and extremely beautiful, with white-sand beaches in the south and Arctic peaks in the north. While Americans might first think of candy fish and pop music production, Sweden is seen as a model example of a social democracy. Public spaces are beautiful, public services are widely available and of high-quality, the standard of living is high and crime is low. Stockholm, one of the most pleasant cities in Europe, is a case in point.

Since the completion of the Öresund Bridge connection Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö, Sweden in 2000, southern Sweden -- which always has had strong historical and linguistic ties to Denmark -- is looking more toward continental Europe with Denmark as its gateway.  Stockholm is still considered Sweden's jewel, though there remains much to be seen in the north as well.
