| Scores of top resorts line the north beach, and a number of nice hotels and bungalows are available throughout town. At 8000 baht per night, the Royal Cliff Beach Resort’s two bedroom suite is near the upper price limit. If you want to stay somewhere cheap the options are endless, with most good hostels a few blocks in from the beach, starting in the central area and heading south. 200 or even 100 baht rooms are around for those watching their pennies (but don’t expect the niceties, like air conditioning or sometimes even toilet paper. Also, many of the cheaper places are used as short-term options, so do investigate the place a bit before settling in.)
Another ritzier option is to rent a house or bungalow on the outskirts of town. Here you’ll be away from the noise and neon, usually atop a cliff with gorgeous views of the Gulf of Siam and perfect vistas of turqoise waves. This will be more pricey than all but the nicest resorts, but if you’ve come for the beaches, still worth it (and still much less than comparable places in the west, timeshare or no).
